Some common questions:

1. Why “Reorchestrated”?

2. Is it a real orchestra?

3. Do you take requests?

4. Who does artwork and graphic design for PREO?

5. Will you ever do music from spin-offs?

Why don’t you call the project “Pokémon Remixed” or something instead of “Reorchestrated”? Is that even a real word…?

Contrary to popular belief, the music on this site is not “remixed.” To me, a remix falls within the realm of digital/electronic music, i.e. synths, loops, bass, and beats. “Reorchestrated” is a term loosely associated with and coined by “Zelda Reorchestrated” referring to their endeavor to recreate the acoustic orchestration of music from the Legend of Zelda series, which is essentially what I hope to accomplish for Pokémon in my own project and more.

Do you use a live orchestra to play your music?! It sounds so real!

As much as I want to say, “Oh yeah, I get together with the Goldenrod City Symphony every Monday,” that’s simply not true! I have to rely on some high-end sample libraries to accomplish that big, cinematic sound for my Pokémon arrangements from companies such as Project SAM, audiobro, CineSamples, and Sounds Online. These sample libraries come with pre-recorded articulations of real, live instruments, which I then spend hours meticulously arranging within a sequencer called a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). After slaving over the orchestration and arranging of samples, I then bounce the project as an mp3 audio file.

I want to hear my favorite Pokémon song orchestrated! Do you take requests for music?

Typically, no. As a young, prospective composer who is still learning the ins and outs of music theory, the pieces I choose to arrange aren’t completely arbitrary—each poses some kind of compositional challenge that will further enhance my technique. For example, Lavender Town has taught me how to implement dissonant harmonies, “Ending (Ruby and Sapphire)” has taught me more about counterpoint, etc. Although I like to please the fans, this project is primarily a way for me to learn specific things from my own arrangements, not just to do whatever everyone tells me. I am not a DJ! ;)

Who designed the PREO logo, and who does the art for the website and album covers?

I do all of the art for the PREO website in Photoshop myself! I am also responsible for the logo, which is a deviation of the traditional PokéBall icon featured throughout the world of the Pokémon games.

Will you ever reorchestrate music from spin-off games like Mystery Dungeon or Pokémon Coliseum/XD? What about the movies?

The music of the Pokémon spin-off games and movies are not my #1 priority. While I can foresee doing a couple of tracks from spin-offs in the future for fun, I would prefer to work on the main series music instead.
